Do you feel like Substack is splitting down the middle? Notes and Posts seem to drift further and further apart. Followers don’t overlap subscribers, and there’s very little interaction between the two halves beyond direct links afaik.
It feels like we’re heading for a Facebook-Instagram type schism
What I found is that, yes, there are people who come here for the notes.
But many, me included, see the articles as a way to go deeper and read more about the creator, because that's where we share on a more personal and detailed way.
Thanks for putting this together Orel, interesting ideas! Agree that Notes is clearly a growth driver that shouldn't be ignored. Similar to your findings, I've also found that re-stacking old posts every now and then also works well.
Fantastic insight… to me it is really important to be honest. Write notes that you care about. Not write them just to write them to get visibility. People understand who is authentic and who is not
